Online counselling for Muslim women · sisters only
Counselling for Muslim women that is evidence-based and rooted in the Qur'ān and Sunnah.
As salamu aleykum wa rahmatuLLahi wa barakatuhu. I'm Viktorija Pileckaite, a Muslim woman psychologist working online with anxiety, low mood, religious OCD and waswasa, hijrah, and situations that have become too heavy to carry alone. CBT and DBT methods, read through the lens of Islam. I provide counselling in English, German, Russian, Lithuanian and Arabic.

The first session costs nothing. You decide afterwards whether to continue.
What I work with
The things that are hard to say out loud.
Anxiety and panic
What is actually happening in your body, why avoidance keeps making it larger, and the specific tools that bring it down.
Low and depressive mood
When everything costs more energy than it should, and guilt about worship makes the weight heavier rather than lighter.
Religious OCD and waswās
Doubts in wuḍū' and ṣalāh, intrusive blasphemous thoughts, repeating things over and over. Learning to tell an intrusive thought apart from a belief, and to stop arguing with it.
Difficult life situations
Hijrah, marriage, displacement, a decision that cannot be undone. Support while you are inside something hard, not only afterwards.
While you wait for a place
Psychotherapy waiting lists run for months. Counselling in the meantime means you are not left alone with it until a place opens.
Marriage and family strain
Boundaries, expectations, conflict — and separating what the dīn actually asks of you from what culture has added to it.
I offer psychological counselling. The methods come from modern psychotherapy and the research behind it, and the work is structured, practical and time-limited. If what you need is clinical treatment or a consultation with a psychiatrist, I will tell you plainly and help you find it rather than keep you here — and I'm happy to explain why I think so in your case.
How I work
Two sources. One standard.
Healing is from Allah. What is asked of us is to take the correct means — and there are only two places a correct means can come from.
The first source
Revelation
Dalīl from the Qur'ān and the Sunnah, understood as the rightly-guided salaf understood it. Where Islam has spoken, that is settled — and I will not dress anything else up in its language.
The second source
Research
Cognitive behavioural therapy, DBT and the other evidence-based methods of modern psychotherapy — used with a clear understanding of the mechanism, why it works, and what the research actually shows.
Where the two meet, I take from research freely. Where research contradicts Islam, the error is in the research — science revises itself every decade; revelation is given until the Day of Judgment. The full explanation is here, including why I do not build on what is commonly marketed as "Islamic psychology", and what I will never bring into a session.
In their own words
What the women I work with say afterwards.
Your sessions have been really helpful for me. I especially like the practical exercises, questionnaires. It makes it easier to rate the problem and change. I also like your approach, the way you ask questions, change perspective, challenge irrational thoughts.
When I started therapy, I was unsure if it will help at all. But it did — it is different than just reading books and trying analyse yourself. Sometimes it is better to have a second person to analyse you and guide you through the process. And by time and practise, things started to change. You helped me to prove myself that it is possible to overcome difficulties like anxiety.
Each time I felt myself beginning to sink again, I applied one of the new techniques that I had learnt and clung onto for dear life. I will continue my sessions because I have reached things I never thought were possible. InshaAllah I will continue my journey by healing and helping myself. Alhamdulillah for everything.
When I first met her, I was paralyzed by dread and drowning in pure grief. I have been through things that are hard to even comprehend, let alone voice to someone else. Yet speaking to her made me feel safe, heard and recognized. The world no longer felt like a black hole and once again, I could breath.
Very rapidly, I saw surprising changes in myself. I wanted to live again. I felt like a human again.
Through Allah's mercy and guidance, and with your unwavering support, I've learned so much — especially the resilience and inner strength needed to heal and move forward. I've come to understand that it's not the changes around us, but the transformations within us, that truly bring healing and peace.
I'm forever grateful to you. Jazāki Allāhu khayran, and may Allah bless you for the wonderful and impactful work you do.
It's been a true blessing that Allah got you into my path at a time I thought wouldn't pass. When I started the session with you I thought I was insane. I was in a dark mental state and I didn't feel like I wanted to talk to the closest people I knew — but the sessions with you were always giving me hope to push till the next day, next week, and eventually I started to see light again.
Our last session coincided with a day I thought would always bring me pain, yet instead I felt strong, confident, and resilient. That memory, which I once dreaded, has now become a marker of my healing and growth.
I was in such a bad place that I didn't even want to try to help myself, for fear of failure. But somehow, the feeling that I was in good hands caused me to naturally open up, and my disturbed thoughts and bleak existence became bearable again. I used the words, tips and methods she offered me and implemented them every time I felt despair.
Thank you so much for your sincerity in helping others. You helped me through many trials, and helped me to understand myself.
I had therapy with Viktorija. Very satisfied — professional, high quality, and carried through to a real result.

I just want others to be glad too — so that she helps them the way she helped me.

Who you would be talking to
Viktorija Pileckaite — twenty-two years in Islam, fifteen of them in Jordan.
I hold a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Psychology, both from German universities. I reverted young, married, and moved to Syria. We left during the war. For the past fifteen years I have lived in Jordan, where I studied psychology as a mother of two — slowly, and with a very specific intention behind it.
I wanted to learn something genuinely useful for Muslims, and I hoped Allah would make my knowledge a sabab — a means — for someone's healing. Alḥamdulillāh, I see that in my practice. It is what makes the years of study worth what they cost.
Before you book
“Is this even allowed?”
Most women who write to me have been circling this for months. The hesitation is almost never about the money. It is about whether seeking psychological help sits right with the dīn at all — so let me answer the five questions I am asked most.
Is therapy haram in Islam?
Seeking a permissible, effective means of relief is part of the dīn, not a departure from it. What makes a particular method acceptable or unacceptable is its content — whether it involves shirk, bidʿah, or something contradicting a clear text. Evidence-based psychological work carries none of that, and where a technique does, I leave it out and tell you why. The full reasoning is here.
Is anxiety a sign of weak īmān?
No. Anxiety is a physiological alarm response — adrenaline, breathing, heart rate — and it is not chosen. Fear is not treated in the Qur'ān as a defect; prophets felt it. What you do next is where choice lives, and that is what we work on.
Should I be doing ruqyah instead?
Ruqyah from the authentic Sunnah is good and I would never tell anyone to stop. But taking one permissible means does not forbid another — nobody treats a broken bone with ruqyah alone. If what you have is a psychological difficulty, it also has a worldly cause and a worldly means, and taking that means is part of tying the camel.
Is CBT compatible with Islam?
In itself, yes. CBT is a method for examining whether a thought matches reality and for changing what you do — it carries no creed of its own. Where a particular exercise imports something that contradicts Islam, that exercise is dropped; the rest is a worldly tool like any other.
Do I have to be Salafi to work with you?
Not at all. I tell you my creed so you know exactly what I will and won't bring into the room — not as a condition. Most of the women I work with simply want someone who takes Islam seriously and takes the science seriously, and will not ask them to choose.

If the fee is out of reach
I keep a limited number of reduced-fee places, and I would rather you ask than quietly decide you cannot afford help.
They are for women whose circumstances genuinely make €55 impossible — living in a low-income country, or in real hardship after hijrah, or in a situation where income is nothing like what the fee assumes.
The number of places is limited, so there may be a short waiting list. Write to me and tell me honestly where you are.
