Hijra. Marriage. A move. Leaving a job. The problem with a large decision is rarely that you lack information — it is that fear and reasoning arrive in the same voice, and you cannot tell which one is speaking.
What this is for
Separating the two. Not to remove the fear — fear before something big is ordinary and often sensible — but to stop it doing the deciding while pretending to be judgement.
Three things worth holding apart
The practical question. What is actually true about money, safety, family, timing, paperwork? This part is research, not feeling.
The fear. What specifically are you afraid will happen? Vague dread cannot be examined; a named fear can.
What is being asked of you. Tawakkul is not the absence of planning. Tie the camel, then trust. Istikhārah comes after you have done the thinking and sought counsel, not instead of it.
A caution worth naming
If a decision is being pushed on you by pressure, guilt or someone else's timeline rather than your own reasoning, this worksheet will show it — usually in the column where you cannot write a single practical reason. Take that seriously.
The decision I am facing
Practical reasons for
Practical reasons against
Specifically, I am afraid that…
If that happened, what would I actually do?
The smallest next step
Not the decision. The next single action — one email, one conversation, one number to find out.
If it isn't shifting
Worksheets help, but they aren't a substitute for a conversation. If you've been working at something on your own and it hasn't moved, that usually means it needs another person in the room.
This worksheet is educational material, not treatment. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country now.
